Hello there

As I type this, going to be the Solstice on Sunday. How can we be that far through the year already?!

But as we are, it's time to unveil a graphic I've been wanting to create for ages, but never quite worked out how best to do it simply...Until now.

Finally, it's here. The Happy Solstice illustration that works just as well (and I hope, just as fairly) whether it's currently (approaching) the Summer or the Winter Solstice wherever you are.

Please do feel free to tap/right-click/click here (depending on your device), or on the image itself to download and use in any Solstice-related projects at any time.

And yes, as ever, credit is always appreciated, but never required. (Full terms of use are here).

However, as this particular illustration has been soooo long-promised, if you use this and could possibly find a way to link back to this post, please

that would be absolutely magical.

I'll leave that with you. Enjoy using this image in any event, and have a great week.

A Happy New Year Image/Ecard

Image is a horizontal rectangle, with a gold and white spattered dark sky edge, and then happy New Year on White in Fold painted letters, aggainst a backdrop of golden stars and ga bunch of gold and silver watercolour balloons.
Tap or click/right-click here to download and use this ecard.

Hello there, and I hope that this season has been exactly as you needed it to be.

This is a scheduled post (I'm writing it in mid-December), because I'll be taking a break until early in 2026. At that point, the plan is that the old pattern of posts nearer the end of the working week will return.

Until then, I wanted to wish you all the very best for 2026, with another ecard that you're welcome to use and share as you wish. (It probably would also print OK at a small rectangular size if you need it to do so, but I can't promise that. But a definitely printable version of this design is available for sale here).

As ever, thank you for being here, and there'll be...

More soon.

More Winter/Festive Florals

Image shows a floral-patterned rectangle. The flowers are red and white anemones, there is vibrant painted green foliage too.

Tap or click here to download and use

Hello there

Hope your week has been going well.

And yes, if you were also here last week, your eyes do not deceive you. Those winter/Christmas anemones have now officially escaped their vase as well, to become this free download.

As ever, if you have any questions about how to use this, the answers should be in my "angel policy"

And though I uploaded it at a printable size, I can't vouch for download quality here on Blogger. As ever, if you need to print this at high quality, consider buying the file at full-resolution, over at Craftsuprint.

The ongoing and huge loyalty of so many crafters, cardmakers, and other people making lovely creative things (thanks *so much* especially if you're one of them and reading this) Update on Nov 17th  deletes previous text with the strikethrough symbol.  has also helped me make a rather big decision. Read on for details...

Site News

Long story short, for the last several months, I've been feeling too much like the proverbial mouse on a wheel, instead of a happy artist. I've been guilty of spreading myself too thinly, uploading to too many places...and not having nearly enough time left to create joyful art.

Don't get me wrong. I still love art, and everyone who has been kind enough to follow and buy all my items in so many different places over the years. Thank you so much.

But the time has come, for the sake of sanity, keeping my art high-quality and fun, and therefore making sure my products continue to be of that same quality...to focus my efforts much more carefully, on...

Designing original art downloads and supplies for people who use them to create their own crafts and projects.

I've chosen this route, (initially as an experiment), for several reasons.

♥ Firstly, I specially love to design items knowing that someone else will be able to build upon them even further, and make them their own.

♥ This could well be because of the love and support (and yes, purchases...thank you so much) I've already received from crafters from all sorts of places. A nicer bunch of people would be hard to find anywhere.

♥ It could also be because my whimsical style seems naturally to fit in this area. It wasn't something I planned at all...It just happened...

As you may already be able to tell from the change in logo, tagline and some other site details, I've already altered BoundingSquirrel.Com to help support this change.

Calling all cardmakers, crafters, journallers and other people who create things...

All of this is despite the fact that I personally am much less good at crafting than I am at art and design. That was a major factor in my taking so long to go down the craft supplies path...If I had fabulous fine-motor skills myself, I'd have gone down this path some time ago.

So, if you're the opposite (ie you love to craft, but not so much to draw, paint and design) and would like free printable craft supplies in exchange for providing pictures of your makes, please get in touch).

If you have any thoughts about these downloads, or any ideas about future printables (or any other kind of art you'd like to see, there is now a contact form at the bottom of every blog page, and also and updated contact page here.

And if you're not a crafter...

But if you're not a crafter, you're still so very welcome to keep reading BoundingSquirrel and enjoying the images. Most links to previous products will also remain in place, and I really appreciate your support too. It's just that my focus is changing/emerging for the first time. Thank you for your understanding.

Phew...

That was a long one. Apologies for all the text. I'll leave you to your week, with huge thanks for you being you, (and a pic of the "Robins and Berries" collection, that's also available to buy now as printable papers ;-).

A Poppy Thank You, And Changes Afoot...

This image is a digital ink and watercolour sketch of a planter of large poppies and the word "Thank You"
"Thank You" Poppy Planter Sketch

Hello there

Hope all is well, safe and happy with you. It is here-but have been so busy, that this thank you (originally created as thanks for some lovely birthday gifts)  has been just about the only new design I can share with you.

But it is also meant as a thanks to you, both for being here, and in advance, for your patience.

Basically, the time has come to move to a better platform for newsletters (so that you don't have to be bothered by any pesky adverts for who-knows-what, for one thing. Many apologies if you've already been affected by this. Please know that change is coming).

However, to get this right, it's going  to take some research, adjustments, and thought. So please bear with me whilst I work this one out.

In the meantime, thanks again for being here. Please feel free to share the image above too, if you find it useful, and have people you'd like to thank (especially online, as I've sized it more for that here...). Note, am hoping that the new solution will make such sharing waaay easier :-).

Take care, and more soon-including some summery tales...

P.S. Update on 13th September 2025: A variation of this image (minus the text) is now available as a print and on all sorts of goodies here.

A New Snowdrop Illustration

A line and wash watercolour illustration of snowdrops
Click, tap or right-click here
to download this "Snowdrops" image.

Hello there, and I hope you're doing amazingly well this week, with plenty of art and whimsy, come what may.

My intention with these ink and watercolour snowdrops (started on paper, and finished digitally-a truly hybrid project) is to boost the world's whimsy quotient just a bit more.

So, if you feel just a splash more whimsical after reading this post, it's done its main job.

So, if you'd like to download and use this image (maybe for upcoming posts with a "February," theme?) please do. If you do, please keep the BoundingSquirrel signature in view. If you'd like to link back, that would be lovely, but there's no obligation. See my "angel policy" for details if you need them.

With that said, I'll leave you to your day. Thanks so much for being here, and for reading down this far.

More soon.

A Happy New Year Card

Image shows a square card, with hand drawn champagne glasses clinking, surrounded by pink and purple painted balloons and streamers, on a sparkly purple, pink, blue white and silver background
A Happy New Year Card

Hello there

Assuming that you're reading this when it's scheduled to go out, I hope you've had/are having wonderful festivities or holiday time.

As I say, this a scheduled post that I pre-typed some time ago from your point of view, as like a lot of people (in the UK at least) am taking a full break until early January.

However, with you're already on the hunt for New Year cards, the image above is for you.

Full disclosure: this is a design that I've been selling for years, but don't ever seem to have put on the blog for some reason.

How to download this

If you're wanting to send this as an ecard, please feel free to click on the image and download it.

If you'd like to print and use it and/or remove the attribution for the image, the card sheet to make it is also available here.

And with all of that said, I hope this helps, and will leave you to get on with your day, whatever that looks like for you.

More soon.

Image shows a green sketched watercolour christmas tree in a red pot. the fairy lights on the Christmas tree are warm white, and twinkle
Tap, click or right-click here (depending upon your device)
to download this twinkling Christmas tree gif.

Hello there

Am so hoping that this post finds you well, thriving, and looking forward to a festive period that works well (whatever that looks like for you).

For my part, I'll be taking a few weeks off, and am planning to be back with the next live post early in the New Year.

Before I go though, I'd just like to thank you sooo much for being here along with me this year, and to offer you the "twinkling Christmas tree" gif on this post as an ecard or graphic for your own use too, if you'd  like it. You can tap on the graphic itself, (or here) to get it onto your own device, and use according to my -appropriately Christmassy-"angel policy" :-)).

And with that, I'll simply send you love and best wishes for a happy, peaceful and prosperous end to the year, wherever you are.

More soon.

A New, and Free Christmas Tree Baubles Design

Picture is a downladable free graphic of a watercolour christmas tree and sparkly pink, purple and white bables.
Click, double-click or tap here to download these
"Merry Christmas Baubles in Purple and Pink"

Hello there

I'm sending this early, because amidst all the online sale clamour,  it just feels right to buck the trend a little bit, and kick off the pre-Christmas period here by *giving* you something.

So, please tap, click or double click here, depending upon your device, if you'd like to be able to download and use this Christmas bauble graphic (my full and generous-as-I-can-make-it angel usage policy for all BoundingSquirrel.com downloads is here, if you need it).

(I've given up saying exactly how big anyone's download will be on the blog, as it seems to vary here beyond my control at times. But it was created at 7 inches square and 300dpi, so something in some way printable should emerge if you need to print it).

Full disclosure: This "Merry Christmas with tree baubles," graphic is an alternative colourway to the more traditional one available to buy in my Craftsuprint shop.

But personally,  I'm loving this purple colourway more, and so wanted to make this the one to give you (at any time, depending upon when you're reading this) if that makes sense.

Finally

Everyone's busy at this time of year, so that's enough waffle from me. Thank you, as ever, for reading this, and may this time be bringing you all you need, whether that's sales galore, celebrations for some  people in the US, or just peace and quiet :-) .

More soon.

Right-click, tap or click here,

"Please Accept a FreeVirtual Hug"  image.
Hello there

This week, picture says it all. Whoever you are, wherever you are, and whenever you're reading this, please accept a free virtual hug in the form of this virtual graphic (and share it if you wish, just as it says at the bottom of the image.).

I can't vouch for the exact image size you'll get from Google when you do, but it should be enough for most things, especially online.

Just tap, right-click or click on the image or this link , and this cuddly bear graphic and his message are yours. Hope you enjoy this bear as much as I enjoyed digitally watercolour painting this image, in Krita 5.

That's it for now. But take good care of yourself. And as ever, there'll be...

New Freebie: Blue Leaf Outline Patterned Background

Image shows a mid-dark blue background, with the outline of leaves in a lighter blue-the pattern covers the entire background.
Tap or click or right-click here to
download this background

Hello there, and hope all is really well with you.

This week, I've been experimenting with creating patterns by using  the Krita 5 app in an entirely different way.

Am still not entirely sure I have the process down smoothly (when I do, there may even be a celebratory video showing *everyone* how to do it if they want to).

It's funny, isn't it, how using something familiar, but in a very different way, can sometimes feel harder than starting from scratch?

In the meantime, have a free download...

Whilst I perfect this though, I thought I'd post this background, as am pleased enough with it that it should make its way into the world and be useful to someone.

So, if you'd like to use it (for anything other than selling it as it is) please do, either by downloading it here, or clicking, tapping or right-clicking on the image above to do so.

Note: the file I uploaded was A4, but whether it turns out that way when you download it via the blog, am not sure. Still, if it's useful to you as is, I'm delighted. And if you'd like, feel free to let me know what you've done with it (maybe via Instagram, where I've recently started posting again).

That's all for now, but as ever, thanks so much for being here.

More soon.

A Butterfly Gif...

Image is a small animation, in which purple watercolour and a whimsical, frondy plany are soon joined by a purpole butterfly, and the words, have a great day, on a repeating loop.
Click, tap or double-click
(depending on your device)
to download this butterfly gif

Hello there

Hope all is incredibly well with you. (And if you're in a hurry, please feel free simply to download and share the image above, with my compliments. The last frame is watermarked, so there's no specific need to link here, but if you'd like to, I'll always love and appreciate that).

News beyond the butterfly gif...

And if you're able to settle in for just a few moments, many thanks, and welcome. Because, as I type, it's that time of year again, isn't it? You know the one. The specific one in which we can't move in our inboxes for discounts, offers, sales, and the like.

So much so, that, lovely though these offers are, and grateful for them as I am, am managing to feel overwhelmed by all those offers... And it's still a full week before the infamous yearly "Black Friday," and  I'm *in the UK* (where we don't even celebrate Thanksgiving, or anything similar).

So, if you're feeling similarly, please feel free just enjoy these butterflies, and/or share them with anyone else who might like them.

Of course...

(If you have an amazing tolerance for shopping today, and would genuinely like to see more whimsical butterflies like this...1) I admire your stamina, and 2) They are available to buy download as a background here, on wrapping paper here, and as fun gifts here).

But otherwise and anyway, please just enjoy this butterfly gif , and thanks so much for taking the time to drop by.

A September Grapes Freebie Illustration

A watercolour drawing of purple grapes, a green leaves and a blue sky, with the word September set against a white cloud.
Click, tap or double-click here to download
and use this September graphic if you wish.

And just like that, the holidays are over. Hope you had a good one. We did, and I'll share if you'd like. But somehow, you think you leave everything organised, and yet there's still so much mysterious *stuff* to sort out on returning :-).

Which is a roundabout way of saying that all the plans I had to have all my ducks in a row by now are *laughably* behind, but am still too "holiday-relaxed" to be too stressed about it.

A free September illustration/graphic for you

In the meantime, if you have any use for a new, free "September" graphic like the watercolour grapes above, then please feel free to download and use said grapes. (They are harvested in Europe at this time of year-can't vouch for elsewhere, but hope this helps in some way...And yes, I know we're into September already...).

And as ever, credit is very much appreciated, but not required, and terms of use are here.

And with that said, I'll go back to trying to get at least some of those ducks in a row for next week instead.

Thanks so much for being here, and have a lovely weekend when it comes.

More soon.

So, feel free to download and share this image to cheer up anyone you think might like it.

Free 2023 Watercolour Graphic

Tap, right-click or click this image to download.

Hello there, and hope life is treating you well.

To coin a cliché, it's really hard to believe that it's almost 2023.

(For full disclosure, this is being typed and scheduled in advance in mid-December as am having a break from the online world until January).

But it's become something of a tradition for me to "paint out how next year feels" each December.

And this year, this is how 2023 feels from here.

And, as ever, you're welcome to use this graphic if you wish, in any way that fits my (ever-so-generous...promise) angel policy. Links back are always lovely, but never required.

May you have a wonderful new year. And, as ever from here, there'll be...

A Christmas Cartoon Ecard

Hello there

And now it really *is" that time of year again, and this year's Christmas ecard is below. As with them every year, feel free to use and share it if you wish (though am not sure if its topic will resonate in other places as much as the UK-do you have strikes at the moment too, where you are?).

In this cartoon, even Santas's reindeer are on strike and are demanding more pay, and extra carrots.
Click, right-click or tap here to download this ecard.

In any event, enjoy the festive season, wherever and however it is for you.

I'll be taking a break from blogging now until the New Year, but have some posts already scheduled for you for after Christmas too.

Most of all, thank you for reading all these posts, and for being here.

Christmas Foliage Graphics...and a Quiz

Hello there

Hope you're well and thriving, and ready for some fun, as well as a not one, not two, but three freebies to download, as befits the approaching festive season.

You're welcome to use any of the set of three graphics in this post, in any way at all that matches my angel policy. Just right-click, tap or click (depending upon your device) on the graphic(s) you'd like to use, and the graphic should download.

And if you're not in need of freebies right now...as well as if you are, this post is also a quiz.

Christmas Foliage Watercolour 2
Picture 2: Right-click, tap or click here to download

Each of the pics in this post was created in a different way. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to decide which method (A, B or C) matches which Picture 1, Picture 2 and Picture 3.

Free Christmas Foliage Watercolour Picture 3
Picture 3: Right-click, tap or click here to download.

Painting and Drawing Methods Used

Which of these methods do you think matches which picture? (You may have to scroll up  from here to see the pictures again).

Method A One of the pictures in this post was created using 100% digital watercolour painting and digital ink sketching,  in the wonderful Rebelle 5 app, (not an affiliate link, I just enjoy using it).

Method B One of the pictures was created by wetting hot-pressed, (ie smooth) 300g Bockingford Watercolour paper, splashing colours into wet areas, and then, when the areas were dry, inking in details with a black waterproof pen.

Method C One of the pictures in this post was created by sketching onto 300g cold-pressed Bockingford Watercolour Paper first, and then painting in details wet-on-dry (though white highlights were still added later).

Your answers

When you think you have your answers, check the PS at the bottom of this post, to see if you're right.

Please note, this quiz is just for fun, there are no prizes, and the answers are at the very bottom of this post, in the P.S. section.

Whilst I'm in the business of making sure that there's enough text here to obscure the answers, this is probably a great point to remind you that my Redbubble shop is still a great place to look for gifts (most still in time for Christmas, or of course, any other time of year), and that  the printable designs in my Craftsuprint shop can be downloaded 365 days a year.

With that said, I hope you had fun with this post today, and/or found something you wanted in one way or another. It's only left for me to wish you a happy week, and promise that there will be more from me soon as well as...

A P.S with the quiz answers...

And the answers are:

Picture 1 was painted using method B. The surface is smooth (ie hot pressed) and the end result has a pretty sploshy wet-in-wet look.

Picture 2 was painted using method A, and is therefore, 100% digitally painted, (even though the digital paper behind it has a really convincing rougher/"cold-pressed paper" look).

Which means that Picture 3 used method C, with its rougher paper and penwork that am feeling now might have been a little over-the-top :-) .

Whatever your answers, hope you had fun, and see you next week.

Free Happy Halloween Gif (and a Sale...)

Hello there.

Now, before I go any further with this post, if you are scared of spiders, please know that, I am as well.

Which made it both bizarre even to have *had* the idea for the Halloween gif below, and essential that the spider therein be the cutest and most smiley, goggley-eyed creature I could muster.

A spider appears and disappears ina web against an orange background, with a Happy Halloween message in a scary font appearing and disappearing as well.
Click, right, click or tap here to download and use this gif if you wish

I hope therefore, that everyone can enjoy this gif, however they feel about spiders (please do download and use this image if you'd like, ready for 31st.). Alternatively, there is also a Halloween, "Friendly Ghost," gif from a previous year here. (Terms of use for all my freebies are here).

Nothing spooky about this sale, though...

In other news, I just wanted to let you know that *all* the printables in my Craftsuprint shop (over 450 of them, now) are on sale from today 28th October to the 31st October 2022. This is the last full sale of these that I plan to run before Christmas, so it's a great time to stock up on any printable sheets you've had your eye on.

Here's the link to the shop again: https://www.craftsuprint.com/clare-walker/

Equally, if you're reading this after Oct 31at 2022, the sale will be over. The link will still point to shop goodies though :-).

And with all of that said, it's time just to wish you a lovely weekend (or day, if you're reading this later).
