*Two* Free May Watercolour Illustrations

Hello there.

Hope you've had a great week. It's that time again, for  an "illustration of the month" freebie.

Today  I have not one but two free "May" watercolour illustrations for you to use in your posts and projects if you'd like. (With huge thanks to Marion Kimberley-Scott, whose wonderful garden pics and permission to use them as reference, inspired this project).

May in Hand lettering surrounded by a watercolour pink clematis wreath.

The first (above) is a more traditional clematis wreath with the word May inside, and the second (see below) spells out May in clematis branches. I couldn't decide which I liked best, so am offering you both of them.

To download either or both of them, just tap, right-click or click (depending upon your device) on the image you'd like, and download it to use, (in any way that works under my angel policy...Which allows for pretty much anything, except selling files as they are, or claiming copyright, which stays with me). Credit is always appreciated, but never required.

May spelt out in pink clematis leaves and flowers a. blue watercolour sky.

In any event, hope these graphics help and are useful to you.

And if you'd like more pink floral goodness like this, a set of clematis graphics is now up in my Craftsuprint shop.

Update on May 3rd. The very talented Marion Kimberley-Scott has also given me permission to post a couple of pictures she's taken of this design when made up into a full-sized card. With huge thanks to her, here they are. Obviously, they are her pictures and not for download, but you can click through to see more of her marvellous card makes here.

Hope this helps.

Digi-Watercolour Art Journaling "Let Little Things Spark Joy"

Hand drawn digital watercolour jasmine and the words Let Little Things Spark Joy in hand-lettering next to it.
You are welcome to share this, "as is," including the watermark.

Hello there. Hope you're doing OK in the still-strange times in which we seem to be living.

I've always been focused on "happy art," and to that end, have been darting about enjoying spring this week, and doing my best to record happy thoughts (like the one above) in a digi watercolour art journaling style.

Focusing on the budding flowers, bees, spring sunshine and a thousand other details has been a good plan this week. So that was the thought I recorded here, and hope helps someone else too.

This is a hand-drawn (stroke by stroke) digital watercolour of little white jasmine flowers, in Krita 5, with digi hand-lettering, also in Krita.

If you fancy this in your life, it's available on prints and postcards too, in my Redbubble shop. But for now, I'll leave you with it (and its "Happy Birthday," printable cousin in my Craftsuprint shop

and wish you a happy weekend.

New Digital Painting, in a New Old/Style

Hello there

How are you doing?

If  you're feeling the need for some calm, this week, I've got a peaceful landscape painting for you.

Painting in digital chalks of a peaceful lake scene, with distant hills
"By the Lakeshore", Digital Painting by Clare Walker, BoundingSquirrel.Com

Yes, I painted it  digitally (but still stroke by stroke, in Krita 5). And for those of you into such things, yes, this does use a different brush to my normal set in there: digital soft chalk.

If you've been reading this blog for a *very* long time (and I do mean a very long time, around 9 years or so)... Firstly, *thankyou,* and second, you may remember that I used to do much more in this "digital pastel," style (such as the pics, here, and here, for example).

This new painting just happened out of nowhere, suggesting it was its right time to emerge. (And to answer the next question am guessing you might have, this is entirely from my imagination, and I have no idea at all where, or even if, this place exists quite like this in, "real life").

I have a question for you too though, if that's OK. Do you prefer this style, or the usual pen-and-wash? Or both? I'd love to know, so please do leave me a comment over on Facebook if you've got a view on this.

As to what will become of this painting/drawing (if anything), am not sure yet. If you've any thoughts on that, please let me know that too.

And with all that said, it's time just to thank you for reading this, and to wish you as happy and peaceful a weekend as possible.

More soon.

An Emerald Anniversary Card and Digital Painting...

Hello there. Hope you're doing well.

Digital watercolour of an emerald.

This week's offering is a digital painting that was always intended as an emerald anniversary card. In fairness to the couple now celebrating 55 happy years together (congratulations again!), I couldn't put these designs in a post until today.

Its painting (the emerald is in digital watercolour, using Krita) and design have taken up a fair chunk of the week...Alongside, of course  enjoying spring sunshine and then watching, open-mouthed, as that turned to snow...in the same afternoon. Am really not joking or exaggerating about that-it was the weirdest thing.

Anywaaaay, lest I be rightly accused of doing that British weather-chat thing, here's the card itself, which you can buy (and personalise, inside and out) at Zazzle:

Or, if you're feeling crafty (or need to download something today) you can also download a printable kit that makes a similar square version of the card (again with personalisable/customisable message options) from my Craftsuprint shop.

Picture of the Emerald Anniversary Kit contents, card front, insert, backgrounds, etc.

Whichever option works better for you, I hope this helps you or someone you know.

Had thought that this could be a bit too "niche," so hesitated before posting this. But as we're 55 years from the beginning of the "Summer of Love," as I'm writing this, perhaps not... ;-)

Have a great weekend-more soon.
