New Digital Pastel Painting: In the Poppy Meadow...

Image sows a digital pastel painting of a poppy meadow, that's also studded with daisies and other wild flowers,.
"In the Poppy Meadow"

Hello there, and hope that all is well and thriving with you.

This week, I've been celebrating. Specifically, there was delight to be had in:

1. All the wildflowers that  are making their way back to to so many spaces here in the UK. Not just in meadows, or even field margins and by the roadside.

No, they seem to be appearing in ever space, including even more by our local reservoir...

2. Finally capturing all of the feeling of that beauty in the way, and at the size, I've really wanted to for years. Hence the digital pastel painting at the top of this post. Why all new things seem to start with poppies for me, I'm not sure. But they do. Perhaps it's their beauty, and my love of them. And/or their being beloved and familiar, when trying something otherwise new). Anyway...

If you're into this kind of thing, here's a quick time-lapse of the different stages of the process I went through in digitally painting "In the Poppy Meadow " (which took about two hours in real time).

And  all of this led (via a route with which I won't bore you) to the realisation that:

3. I can (finally, and thanks for your patience) add paintings and designs to...jigsaws! Here's what "In the Poppy Meadow" looks like as a jigsaw puzzle (which can be of various sizes):

That's all for now. But hope this post was a fun boost one way or another-and thanks *so* much for being here, and taking the time to read this.

More soon.

Spring Watercolour Flowers (and Favourite Line and Wash Tools)

Image shows line and wash watercolour sketches of daffodils, tulips, corcus and daisies...
Spring Watercolour Flower Sketches...

Hello there

This week, it's time to share some spring flower sketches, as promised last week.

These are from imagination, but  you never know-if everyone thinks of them enough, they might appear "for real," soon...

Line and Wash Watercolour Paints, Tools and Supplies

If you're the kind of person who likes to know how things are made, I used my current go-to favourite supplies for physical watercolour: a waterproof Sakura Pigma Micron black pen (size 0.1, though from a set with several), Derwent Inktense paints from the 24 half-pan set, Pentel water brushes, and my latest trusty Daler-Rowney sketchbook... the third one in a row, and am planning to buy another one soon...

And yes, all of those links (and in the pic below) *are* affiliate links, because I really do turn to them whenever I want to draw a non-digital watercolour, and also do sometimes get asked about my tools and materials. So, just to be really clear,  if you buy via these links, I get a small commission, at no extra cost to you.

The Derwent Inktense paints were actually a lovely Christmas gift (thank you Computer Man!). (And yes, I really have meant to talk about materials for that long...)

Anyway...here's a pic of them when the set was newer, and much less paint-spattered than it is now...(Note, the set had already been in immediate and delighted use, so even this pic doesn't show the paints in their initially, pristine state...:-) ).

Image is a photograph of a paint set, with 24 different colours in it.
These Derwent Inktense Paints got put to such immediate
use that an initial "pristine," photo of them never got chance to exist...

Sidenote: As far as I know, all these products are animal-friendly too (being a life-long vegetarian, it just isn't in me knowingly to use something that harmed either an animal or the environment in its production). But don't quote me on this, as I'm just a concerned consumer doing her best, not a paint and materials expert.

Do hope that this peek into materials has been interesting to you. As ever though, I've written more than I meant to, so I'll leave it there for now, and let you get on with your day.

But hope all's well with you, and thank you, as always, for reading down this far. Have a lovely week.

More soon.

New Hot Pink Daisies: Bring Your Inner Maximalist Out to Play...

Hello there

Hope you're thriving in your corner of the world. And even if not, then in today's post might just contain something that helps...in the form of this ultra-bright daisy design.

And yes,  it was digital colouring and brightening in the ever-trusty Krita digital painting app, that brought out a properly bright, vibrant and...yes, I'm going to declare it a "maximalist" :-) pattern design. Yes, the pink is veeeery bright. But it's fun, isn't it?

It turns out that things look even more fun on a yummy assortment of Redbubble items, from bags to pouches and clocks to notebooks:

Picture shows lots of giftable and home decor items showing the Hot Pink daisy bright pink and white pattern design

on Redbubble.

And, if you're a papercrafter or cardmaker, you can also find this as a digital download background paper in this design in my Craftsuprint shop.

Finally, at the time of writing this (updated 23rd August 2024) it looks like all the shops have sales, with various discounts available for different lengths of time. So if you fancy a peek at some gorgeously bright items whilst you bag a bargain, this might be a great time to buy.

Hope this all helps one way or another.

Thanks so much for being here, and for reading down this far.

More soon.

Free Daisies and Cornflowers Background paper
Just tap, click or right-click to download this free Daisies and Cornflowers Background Paper

How are you doing? Deals are a great thing, but it can all feel a bit overwhelming when your inbox is stuffed with them, as mine is when writing this Black Friday.

So if all you need is a handy and cheerful floral background (that you can use in either direction) please feel free to download and use this, with no sign-ups or anything, as usual.

If you still have that shopping vibe (and boy, do I salute your stamina if so :-) ), then this is also available in lots of lovely items at Redbubble (who have some lovely "CYBER5" discounts at the moment, though I genuinely don't know for how long) on fabric at Zazzle (their codes look like today only, but don't quote me on that) and at Craftsuprint (where a 20% designer discount on all my downloadable printables lasts until the end of Monday Nov 29th 2021).

And whether you shop 'til you drop or just curl up and be cosy, have a lovely weekend.

More soon.

New Free Wallpaper: Cheerful "Field of Daisies" Design

Hello there. Today's offering (free wallpaper for your phone or device) is a cheerier offering than the last, although it developed from it.

If you'd like it on your phone, just right-click and save this image.

Please note, I'm new to trying to design wallpapers. I've done my best to size this for what seems to be the largest phone screens available (so that everyone sees something good, no matter what their screen size.). But am no expert in this, and you may need to resize or change this to suit your device: please feel free to do so.

That's all for today, but if you'd rather have a bigger file in this design that you can print, it's also available here.

More soon-take care.
