Bats, Hats, Cats, and A Big(ish) Announcement

Hello there, and hope you're thriving.

And just like that, we are knee-deep in the bats, cats and hats season, (a.k.a) Halloween. 

It's something with which I haven't always felt completely at home. One the one hand, I love fun, but on the other, scaring people or being scared is very much not my thing.

This year though, I decided to really go for it in my own style, and just make everything in my Halloween design as cute and whimsical as possible.

You can judge for yourself whether or not I've been successful...

But I was much encouraged when even my husband (a.k.a. The Computer Man) who had not been privy to my "make it cute and whimsical," idea for the design said, 
"You've really put the "happy" into Happy Halloween here-even the ghost is smiling."

So I figured that was a good sign of "mission accomplished", especially as the cat, bat and pumpkin are all smiling too, as you can see really well on this magnet:

This one page gives you *lots* more images than before, and replaces both the stodgy text on the old "stockists" page, *and* the old (and often temperamental) "shop" links.

A Cute Halloween Cat for the Spooky Season...

Hello there, and I hope all's great with you.

Every year, around the Halloween season, I face the same dilemma. Pictures, card sheets and products for it are supposed to be spooky. And yet, "spooky," isn't my natural stamping ground, whereas "cute and whimsical," ideas come more naturally.

If You Go Down to The Bench Today (You're in For a Big Surprise)...

Hello there. Hope you're thriving. But if you're feeling in need of a pick-me-up or a bear hug, I couldn't resist sharing a photo of one of our newest local residents, who re-inspired me utterly the other day. 

Imagine my surprise the other day, when, wondering round the neighbourhood (frankly, in need of a little inspiration and hope myself, at the time) I came upon this cutie on a bench.

Who left him, and why, remains a mystery. But this huge and adorable teddy bear has also been spotted being a bench companion to people of all ages since. So however he (or she!) got here, this bear is doing a real public service, going beyond even providing much-needed whimsy and joy.

I am no stranger to teddy bears...

If you're a regular reader here, you might already know that I have a  very soft spot for bears.

Re-inspired?

Yes, meeting the bear on the bench did re-inspire me, though in all sorts of ways, bear-related and none. A piece of work in progress is on my Instagram feed, if you'd like to see it.

But all of that's for another day. Today, it's just enough to share something that's inspired me, and hope that you've been able to have a joyful and happy surprise from it as well.

Cute Cartoon Dog Clip Art (Free Download) Day 64/100

 Ok, so if you like freebies, dogs, clip art, or a combination of all three, today's your day. (Also Day 64/100 in my 100 days project).

Basically he's the cute end result of an animation project that didn't quite come off.

But as this still picture (a full-size jpg) remains rather cute and should be printable...If you like him, he's yours (just right-click, click or tap depending on your device, to save, and he's yours).

Cute Scottie Dog Sketch in Krita

 

This cute little Scottish terrier is my Day Five Sketch-A-Day (done stroke by stroke in Krita digital illustration  software). And yes, he will be available on lovely items to buy soon. Happy Monday!

New: Happy Puffin Painting

Hello again. This week's offering  is a new and happy puffin painting.

He's inspired by the fascinating Audobon webcams featuring the antics of live puffins in Maine in the breeding season. Which I found courtesy of the equally amazing nature  and animal webcams at Explore.org (which is *such* great go-to -and free-site  for a mood-boost when you need one, by the way).

Anyway, back on the subject of the puffin, this little cutey not only looks great in all the ways you might expect, as in this framed print,

But also, with the whites and blues   in the puffin print pattern version of this design look really stunning on items for the bathroom, like this shower curtain and bath mat.

Free Chinese New Year of the Rat Clip Art

Though there's much else going on in China right now, it's also Chinese New Year this weekend.

As I know I have some blog readers who also use Feng Shui and have various other connections to China, I thought you might enjoy using this happy little rat (it being the start of the Year of the Rat) in your projects. The usual angel policy terms apply, and you can just right-click to download. (He's not huge in size,  but would work well in web-based or small-scale projects).

And of course, it's fine to use him at any time, and not just in relation to Chinese New Year.

'Tis the Season For...Cute Woodland Animals and...Labels?

Most organised people, I'm guessing, would not simply draw an autumnal wreath like the one on the left, without a plan. However cute it is.

But confession time comes early in this post: I did.

I didn't have an idea of what would happen to the cute rodents and shiny berries that kept appearing amongst russety leaves. Not an iota.

In the end, it didn't matter. Becuse thinking about autumn made me remember that even I've been baking more. And that organised people probably even bottle carefully-grown produce, and/or put it into jars at this time of year. (In the Northern Hemisphere, anyway).

So if you're looking for packaging for your home-produced goods (or craft-fairs, or anything similar), then look no further. Because it turns out that these little fellows, complete with their nuts, leaves, berries and whatnot, can help you with that.

New: Cute Whimsical Snails & Mushrooms Design

Nearly all the feedback I've had suggest that whimsical designs are where it's at for BoundingSquirrel.

So when we had nine snails (yup, nine...I watched them for far longer than a grown adult probably should...:-) in or on our window box yesterday, this seemed like the obvious next design.

New Digital Painting: A Cute Rabbit for Spring

At last, a new digital painting. I've had to throw off a cold, and as soon as I did, this cute bunny appeared (based on one I saw and photoed in Epping Forest, with The Computer Man last year).

Once again, I've done this rabbit in digital oil pastels, stroke by stroke, with a tablet and pen.

But this time, I changed the background paper colour first and then erased around it. Please do shout if you'd like a video of this process. (I've just bought a new program for explaining and videoing what's going on my screen and am *really* keen to test drive it ;-)
