Hello there

How is the new year going for you?

In the midst of all the frantic goal setting I was trying to do, over here have suddenly realised a wild truth...It's OK to go slowly.

More than OK, actually, as by some strange alchemy of the universe, it seems actually to make ideas come together faster, and more accurately.

Who knew. Well, maybe everyone except me, to whom it has been a total revelation, in the midst of the attempted rebuild of everything to do with BoundingSquirrel. So I created this cute sea turtle more as a "note to self", as well a piece that maybe others might resonate.

A Google search suggests a sea turtle's preferred speed doesn't go much above 5 miles an hour (depending on the current, and/or surrounding dangers).

And yet these same creatures cover long distances, eventually. So that's the calm, steady energy am aiming for with the rebuild.

About that re-build

On the rebuild, there's good news and bad news.

-The good news is that I do now have a solid plan. (Cue cheering and sighs of relief all round).

-The bad news is that it's probably going to take most, if not all,  of 2024 to get it exactly as I'm dreaming about it for you.

(And there was me, trying to get it all done in a fortnight :-). Duh.... ).

Soooo...

As a big part of the plan still involves sharing happy art on a regular basis, how about, just for now,  I carry on doing that right here, and just switch things over  s  l  o  w  l  y and calmly...even one at a time (what a concept :-) ), telling you about them as I go?

Well, that's the plan :-). And the calm but determined not on which I'll wish you a lovely weekend.

New Digital Painting: Agapanthus

Hello again

Hope this post finds you well and thriving, despite the extreme weirdness in the world.
I can only offer you a pretty distraction...But if that's what you need right now, read on.

This design is "Agapanthus." Which, believe it or not, took me *7* attempts to figure out as a digital acrylics painting in Rebelle (with the various extras added to make it into the card the client had requested put in in CraftArtist). But yes, it's also been a fabulous distraction for me, this week.

And if you fancy a bit more distraction in the form of  making this yourself, you can now also find it on a sheet here.

Hope this helps, and take good care of yourself. Thanks for stopping by.

More soon.

A Completely Different Picture...

Am loathe to post this...It's so completely different, a little weird, and very "messy" unfinished and abstract compared to everything that's gone before. (It's still digital, but a digital acrylic painting, rather than digital pastels).

But the colours of a "Rainbow Autumn", feel jolly, it's useful in order to illustrate another blog (and anyway, I've promised to post every stage in the process here, whether it feels like "progress" or not).

Happy weekend, whatever you're up to.

PS. Update: I ended up calling this "Rainbow Autumn", and it's found its home on colourful gifts like this one:

Three Things I'm Loving This Week...

Three things I'm loving this week...

1. The wonderful colour psychology infographic by Carey Jolliffe, posted at Lifehacker by Melanie Pinola.

2. This timely post entitled "Why You'll Never be Ready" at ForTheCreators.Com.

3. And lastly, I'm doing the happy dance, because I've finally managed a digital painting of a building. (Digital painting, you'll remember is something I'm still much more nervous about than photomanipulation, photography, or graphic design).

This building will not win prizes, has many faults, and will not be going in the gallery. But the fact that I'm showing you this at all is a testament to the power of the FortheCreators blog post...So here goes...
